what is the Paraguaya?

The paraguaya (Prunus persica var. Platycarpa) is a fruit similar to the peach, as it is derived from the peach, with a round, flattened shape and velvety skin. Its flavor is sweet, very similar again to the peach.

The Paraguayan fruit has no defined origin. There are sources that indicate China, others Iran, but the reality is that it has been cultivated for years in Asia, continent from where its cultivation spread to the rest of the world. Nowadays they can be found all over the Mediterranean, including Spain. In Frutas Charito we have the paraguayas from Spain.

The paraguaya stands out for its high content of carotenes and vitamins such as A, B1, B2, B6 and C.

It also stands out for the minerals it contains: potassium, phosphorus, magnesium, sulfur, iron and calcium, which contributes to the care of the skin and eyesight.

Benefits of the Paraguaya

The paraguaya contains beneficial properties for health.

  • Contains carotenes which is an important ally to combat stomach problems.

Types of Paraguayas

The plant, technically, is called Prunus persica var. Platycarpa and comes from a tree of the Prunus genus. We can find several types of paraguayas, with green or reddish veins (and with a white pulp) and another with a slightly orange pulp, which seems to be detached from the seed.
